Sascha Lasserson came to London from Russia in 1914 and stayed on to become one of the greatest piano teachers in the country. This book, an affectionate composite portrait of him by his pupils, describes him not only as a teacher but also as man and artist. It also provides fascinating portraits of some of his great friends and contemporaries at the St Petersburg Conservatoire.
“I was a pupil of this truly magnificent man. Unfortunately I only spent two years with him, from the age of 12. However, what I learnt in those two years is still with me now at the age of 50. What I don't remember of Mr.Lasserson has been brought back to me in these wonderful memories and tributes submitted by some of his other disciples. It is a great read for any violinist anywhere. Full marks to Michael Lasserson for compiling this marvellous book. ”
